A Quick Autumn Catch-Up

Hello, all those out there on the interwebs and happy First Day of Autumn! It truly has been a long time since I’ve written on this blog, and I’ve definitely missed it! Things have been crazy; as I mentioned in “OSR 2017, Amongst Other Things!” the boyfriend has now turned fiancee!

YES! I KNOW!

Truly, truly, it is a nutty, but good time! Frankly, I never knew how complicated planning a wedding could be, especially when I’m trying to launch my writing and bookkeeping careers! Lordy!

Furthermore, there are some things in the works–wedding and random–that will be life changing by the end of the year. I truly pray they work out for the best.

Speaking of writing, I am very pleased with how my technique is progressing, even if life tends to keep me from my office more than I’d like. There are some really good, concrete things happening in my novel and I do hope to be sharing it with you, soon! (Alas, if only money wasn’t an issue; I would write full-time in my pajamas and get my book out there faster! Wouldn’t that be wonderful?)

So, not that I’m trying to make excuses, but I adore you, dear readers, and I don’t want you to even imagine that I might’ve abandoned you all. I will see you soon. The next blog post won’t be too far off!

Have a happy, cool, crisp Fall, one and all!

I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO WEARING MY SWEATERS AGAIN!

Fear TWD Returns Tonight!

Where: AMC at Your House
When: 9 PM (EST)
What To Bring: Spears, swords, guns–just kidding! (The Zombie Apocalypse hasn’t hit us yet, after all! We need to conserve ammo!)

THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE IS BACK!

I’m so excited! Fear The Walking Dead is coming back tonight! And you know what that means? The Walking Dead itself isn’t too far behind! (As well as other favorite Fall shows!)

What will happen to The Clarks? Will Madison finally accept the world she’s been thrust into? Will Nick start fearing Walkers? What will be their new home? Will they ever appear on TWD? The questions are endless!

Catch the Fear The Walking Dead mid-season premiere in less than 30 minutes! Here we go!

Ghost Hunters S11 Premiere Tonight!

YES! It’s August! One more month of grueling hot weather and–hopefully–a crisp autumnal bliss will sweep over Ohio. Enough of the 90 degree weather! Good grief, I want my spookiness, 5PM sunsets, love sleeves, and hot drinks!

All in due time, though. All in due time. Must. Be. Patient!

Truthfully I’m not ready to revel in fall just yet. (Says the girl listening to Pandora’s Halloween radio whilst writing this!) I have two more excursions this summer. After those I can settle down, work on my writing projects (including this dear blog), and soak in the 40-60 degrees! It’s honestly been a hard summer; not solely with this borderline drought weather but with personal issues themselves. I’m looking forward to the season change and with that, maybe, I’ll get some time to work. One can only hope!

On that note, Fall TV shows are going to start up again! YAY! I have missed my evening TV rituals!

It all starts tonight with the season 11 Ghost Hunters premiere! Catch it on SyFy @ 9PM (ET)!

And guess where the location is? Cleveland! My own back yard! YES! I’m definitely adding this location to my list!

200

Unfortunately, it was announced a few weeks back that this would be the final GH season airing on SyFy. Last I heard the show wasn’t cancelled, but TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) were just shopping for a different network to work with.

Honestly, if you all haven’t watched Ghost Hunters yet, you should! You don’t have to start at season 1, you can just pop on SyFy when the clock rings 9PM!

TAPS is honestly the best group out there in the paranormal media mainstream. They don’t embellish evidence, they don’t provoke entities, and their main aim is to help people with paranormal problems… as well as continue to develop the paranormal field. Furthermore they are the kindest people you will ever meet! I’ve been to five Ideal Events now–I’ve probably met Steve, Tango, and Dustin four times each–and these people are amazing, plain and simple! You get to interact with them and learn investigation techniques; no stage vs audience, just the TAPS crew (plus other celebs) and fans hanging out in a haunted location!

Side note: Ohio State Reformatory back in May was, quite frankly, the best experience I’ve had thus far at an event! But more on that in another post!

Let me just say: Dustin Pari is a joyous rainbow– a Steel Unicorn gift from God! At his events, his motivational lectures are soul inspiring, as well as hilarious, and will leave you with a smile!  Go follow him on Twitter to see what I mean! Bonus: he is one of the few celebs that makes it a point to respond to as many people as possible!

All righty paranormal enthusiasts, I’ve said my two cents on one of my favorite shows and am off to do some other writings before Ghost Hunters begins! I’ll see you in the next post soon!

REMEMBER: Ghost Hunters. SyFy. 9PM (ET). GO WATCH!

From Gettysburg to Fall; Time to Create!

Sitting at my laptop.
Apple cider by my side.
Long sleeves.
Typing away.

GOOD LORD did the weather turn! Last week I was in 70 degree Gettysburg, this week: FALL!

Yes. YES, ladies and gents! Fall is back in Ohio! That wondrous time of year! Time for spooky! For a midnight walk in the woods! Leaf crunching! Hot drink of choice! Long sleeves! Cuddles! Halloween!

Yes… this is the time of year I enjoy most.

I only wish it had felt like this in Gettysburg. Something about tromping through the battlefields in a light jacket, browsing the historic downtown, crunching the occasional leaf. Well, I mean, some of that I did. However, even though the first day of Fall was last week, it didn’t feel like it until this week. Isn’t that what always happens?

Ah. C’est la vie. I still enjoyed being there.

I got to see urban legend hotspots like the Jennie Wade House, Devil’s Den, and Slaughter Pen. Check out the pictures I took:

The Jennie Wade House. Jennie Wade was the only civilian killed in the Gettysburg war. However, the house is not haunted by her, but her father who was away and missed his daughter’s funeral.

Devil’s Den (the stone structure) and Slaughter Pen (the field across the street from Devil’s Den). Both places were occupied by Confederates, while the Union literally slaughtered them on Little Round Top (where I took the picture from). No wonder it’s haunted!

I also took part in a public ghost hunt with the Gettysburg Paranormal Association. It’s one of the few paranormal societies I’ve found that offers to take anyone on an investigation. Almost every night of the year… you just have to buy a ticket. ($35 per person for 9PM to 11PM, $65 for 9PM to 12AM) The perk? You get to use their equipment, experience the haunted locations they take you to, and they give you a certificate from the society, saying you were with them. They also mail whatever evidence was caught that night to your home address. Which is also cool.

GPA aims to teach anyone from newbie to experienced investigator the ins and outs of paranormal investigating. Bonus: they expect you to try out the gadgets you see on TV. I personally was excited to try out a Spirit Box, Dowsing Rods, a temperature gun, and even the Flir camera.

I’ll admit: I was absolutely nervous about seeing a random, unexplained energy form on the Flir. But… I didn’t. It’s probably pretty rare. Lovely overactive imagination.

In the end, my tactics of investigation haven’t changed. I still enjoy walking around haunted locations and sensing the room. For me, I know spirits exist. I know there’s Beings out there we can’t explain. It’s exciting. It makes the world so interesting. Yes, I’m excited for the future where I have kids. But to know that the unexplained exists out there… well it just adds spice.

After all, Tolkien himself said:

“… always I had the sense of recording what was already ‘there’, somewhere: not of ‘inventing’.”

Ah. Speaking of the unexplained, check out this picture:

20150922_222445
On the edge of the battlefields, I caught this picture of an orb floating above the fence. Enlarge it, and you’ll see this orb is not the only one. Maybe some soldiers are reminiscing, visiting where they once fought.

The purpose of this Gettysburg trip was to get away, by myself, and explore a new location. Whether it be haunted or not. I wanted to have one last exploration before I settled in for the latter part of the year. The time where I really love to be home and write. Plain and simple. Fall brings forward ceaseless inspiration. Honestly, if I didn’t need to sleep or eat, I could probably churn out multiple books in this three month period.

So, now I settle in for the “cold months”, hard at work on my novel’s completion. It will be circulating to agents soon. I can’t wait for you guys to read it!

Happy [Pre]-Fall, Everyone!!

What’s your favorite thing about Fall?

Over here in Ohio our forecast says we’ve got a couple more weeks before the cool weather hits. For me, I’m growing impatient. It will be here soon!
